Biography:
Sean Murray is the president and C.E.O of Advocate Printing and Publishing Company Limited and other related companies.
Sean has a strong belief in community involvement, he is a past president of the Pictou County Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Community Newspapers Association. Sean is a past chairman of the Canadian Printing Industries Association, the Pictou Regional Development Commission, The Atlantic Community Newspapers Association, the Pictou County YM-YWCA and was Founding Chairman of the Pictou County Achievement Awards. He also has served as vice Chairman of the Nova Scotia Museum of Industry, the Pictou Business Improvement District Commission and the Ship Hector Come on Board (Capital) Campaign. He is co-chair of the Pictou County Walk to Cure Diabetes and Chairman of Combase, North America’s largest media study. He is a director of Nova Scotia Business Inc., the Aberdeen Health Foundation, Citizens for a Healthy Pictou County, The Charlotte County (NB) Civic Centre Project, JDRF Canada, the Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust Fund and The Bruce F. Murray Family Foundation. He can often be found coaching minor soccer or hockey teams.
In 2001, he was named Pictou County Business Person of the Year, and received a gold quill from the Canadian Community Newspapers Association. In 2002, he was awarded the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and was named a member of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 TM for 2005. In 2007, 2008 & 2009 he was celebrated as one of the Top 50 CEOs in Atlantic Canada. He has been a national champion of corporate responsibility and rural economic development and is involved in local, regional and national charities.
Sean proudly lives in Pictou with his wife Crystal and four children, Ben, Mac, Georgia and Tess.
