It truly is an honour to be the carrier of the Sconestone. I picked it up from Paul Flynn in Vancouver and I brought it with me to Ireland and now I'm home and getting ready to head to the East Coast Music Awards conference in Sydney, Cape Breton. I'll of course be showing it around in Sydney and giving folks the opportunity to touch it and experience a wee bit of magic. People love this thing. It's seems to pull out a goodwill emotion in everyone who touches it, even amongst the gate and customs agents and security people at the various airports. This really is something special.
Today I did my act of kindness. Christmas was tough this year because my grandmother who most loves the season suffered a stroke. On Christmas eve I found myself in the hospital singing songs for her, her two roommates and some of my other family members who were able to be there with her. It was hard for sure but knowing that she would not be coming home on Christmas, I certainly felt that I was in the right place and doing the right thing.
So today I went back in again and played in the common room on her floor. Those who were well enough were there and everyone including nurses, a doctor and other staff members had the opportunity to touch the Sconestone and make their commitment to doing an act of kindness.
A big thanks to all the staff who work on the 5th floor at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow. You do your acts of kindness everyday.
Thanks so much,
Dave Gunning
