Bonjour! I am the new Keeper of the Sconestone

I hope to be a good keeper of the Stone and I promise to do all my best so that the Stone brings kindness and happiness in France, Switzerland and many other places where I plan to go.

Soraidh le Clach Sgàin! Farewell to the Sconestone!

After sharing some great times and excellent company with the Sconestone, I took it for its last outing with me as Keeper to the very south of Germany, the little town of Waldshut-Tiengen, where my very dear friends Linda and Wolfgang live.

I've been having a lot of fun showing the Stone to various groups I teach, of all ages and backgrounds, and to colleagues and friends, and seeing the reactions. Colleagues have also 'borrowed' it to use in class and to show to their own familes and friends - and one, a cellist on the side, has been 'giving it a wee break' by playing to it!.

Linda's Mum took the stone to a woman's hospice volunteer group, whilst Linda took the stone to a Runrig concert in Glasgow.

Qatar Animal Welfare Society

The Qatar Animal Welfare Society (QAWS) www.qaws.org was hit with tragedy in late 2009; their facility burned down! They have been trying to raise money to rebuild. I went out to help with their scavenger hunt and rummage sale fundraiser. I set up the Sconestone at a table and gave out the wristbands and explained its purpose in between lifting, lugging, packing, unpacking and getting my face painted.

On Thursday Leonard Preyra, our local MLA came and talked to us about Community Service. We realized that if we all do a little in communities as small as our families or as large as our country, we can make a difference.
