WEBSITE HELP

Creating Blogs:

Once you login to the site you will automatically be taken to your Profile page. From this page you will see a link in the left hand side menu for "Keepers Blog (Follow the Journey)" to post their keeper blogs. And for our trackers, you have the ability to post blogs as well by clicking the link for "Kindness Blog (Stories of Kindness)". The Keepers Blog will post blogs to the "Follow the Journey" blog page, whilst the Kindness Blog will post blogs to the "Stories of Kindness" page.

Entering a Title, Summary and Content:

Once you click the link to create a blog it will open a page to your blog editing tool. This is the page where you will enter your blog title, blog summary, blog content and a photo or video. Enter a title for the blog, a summary or short description for the blog and the body for the blog (the main content of your blog). The body area allows various standard editing tools such as bold, underline, justification, creating links etc., fairly self explanatory tools that are represented by icons above the body area.

Uploading a Photo  into a Blog:

You also have the ability to initially upload a single photo or video within the blog in the area called file. Once you have published the blog you then have the ability to upload multiple photos as an attached photo album, but this is explained below. For the single photo upload (which will become your identifying photo next to the title of the blog when it is uploaded) click the upload button under "Upload File". This will open a window to be able to search your computer hard drive for the photo you wish to insert. Select the photo and the system will record it for uploading when you come to complete your blog and publish it.

Uploading a Video into a Blog:

As far as choosing a video to upload into your blog, the system is actually only designed to upload videos with a maximum file size of 10 MB. If you have larger videos or videos on YouTube or any other third party video website, then you can upload the link to that webpage address in your blog. Simply look for the "External Resource" link towards the bottom of the page and click it. The page will adjust slightly to reveal a field where you can type or paste in the URL or webpage address of your video on YouTube or other third party video site. Once you have done this you are now ready to post your full blog onto the website. All that is left for you to do is click the "Update" link at the bottom left-hand side of the page. This will initiate the process of publishing your blog onto the website. If you have a photo or video within your blog it may take a few minutes to upload. Please note that if you have tried to upload a blog with a photo or video larger than 10MB, then the blog editing page will simply reload and your blog will not be published on the website.

If you are having problems with your videos being too large then we can assist you. You can post your video on YouTube yourself and then send us an email with the webpage address. We'll then work at uploading the video ourselves. If you do not have a YouTube account then let us know and we can forward the login details of the Sconestone YouTube account to upload your videos.

Uploading multiple photos into a Blog:

Once you publish your blog it will open your blog and reveal a page that shows your photo on the right hand site, as well as a smaller thumbnail of your photo in the lower left of the page. If you click on the smaller thumbnail of the photo in the lower left hand side of the page it will open a photo editing page. Towards the top of the page you will see a link to "Add More Media". Click this link and an "Upload Que" link will appear. Click the the "Upload" button and an interface will appear that will allow you to select photos from your computer hard drive. It is at this stage that you can select multiple photos. Once you select them and hit the "Choose" button, they will automatically begin uploading onto your blog. Once they have uploaded they will be displayed one above the other and allow you to be able to type in a description for each photo and then click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page. A page will then open that will show you all the photos that you have uploaded. You can then click the title of the blog at the top of the photos to link back into your blog.

Editing your Blog:

Once you have logged into the website and navigate to either the "Follow the Journey" or "Stories of Kindness" blog pages, you can edit your own blogs by clicking on the title of the blog. This will open a page we call the Blog Index page. Nestled in-between your profile photo and the title of the blog you will see an image of a pencil. Click this pencil and it will open your Blog editing page again from which you can edit the blog and update it again. You can also access the Blog Index page from the "My Blogs" tab in your Profile page (this is the page that opens when you first login to the website). Simply click on the title of the appropriate Blog that you wish to edit to open the Blog Index page from which you will see the pencil to open the edit function of your Blog.
